Omnata Sync now supports monday.com the Work OS!
You can now start a 30-day free trial of the Omnata monday.com Plugin on the Snowflake Marketplace.
If you're new here, Omnata Sync is a first of its kind native integration app for Snowflake that enables customers to sync data to and from SaaS endpoints. Omnata Sync delivers significant benefits over standalone middleware tools:
Easy to use - runs natively in your Snowflake account
No data-handling infrastructure - so it's easier to get approved by cyber-security
Reduces cost - we pass on the native app savings to you
Omnata’s monday.com plugin solves integration challenges
Supports the new 2023-10 API version
Reduces sync latency from hours to minutes
Reduces cost with smarter more efficient queries
Existing API integrations may break on the 15th Jan 2024
Downstream data models, reports, and integrations may break. Migrating to the new API is not as simple as updating a connector version or letting your integration partner push an update. There are several foundational changes to the way data is retrieved from the API which require you to reconfigure the integration.
The Omnata plugin is built to support the new 2023-10 API Version with the old API version becoming unsupported after the 15th of Jan. Read more.
What you need to know about the new 2023-10 API
Changes to querying and updating data
The new API, version 2023-10, contains several changes that affect how you query and update data on monday.com, especially the columns. Columns are one of the core elements of any board in monday.com, and they store different types of information, such as status, date, text, number, etc.
The new API introduces a new column type Enum, a new query structure, a new sorting and filtering layer, and more. These changes are not backward compatible with the previous version, 2023-07, which means that you will need to update your queries and code to use the new syntax and features.
You can review the migration guide and the changelog to understand the changes and how they affect your app. You can also use the API playground to test your queries and see the differences between the versions.
Changes to column types
Apart from the API changes, there are also a number of column type changes that you need to be aware of. Depending on how you are utilizing the data, you may need to modify your queries for your database views.
For example, some column types, such as Mirror, Connect Boards, or Dependency, now return a different data type and value than before as well as column type changes such as Boolean to checkbox, numeric to numbers, time-range to timeline. You can review the Columns migration reference to see the column changes and how to handle them.
Omnata’s plugin enables faster decision making and reduces cost
In real-world testing, Omnata’s plugin reduced sync time from several hours to minutes. This was achieved by optimising the use of full-refresh and incremental sync strategies. One Omnata customer uses monday.com and Snowflake extensively for financial planning and forecasting. The faster syncs enabled centralised teams to reduce cycle times and significantly speed up decision making.
Efficient queries
The latency of data syncs is a common challenges of existing integration solutions. Many simply pull a full refresh of the whole monday.com instance, which can take hours depending on the size of the instance. In addition, pulling a full copy of data each time is costly in traditional integration tools which charge based on data volume or compute time.
Omnata’s cost savings are two-fold. Omnata does not charge by data volume or compute time and the monday.com plugin’s efficient payload reduces credit consumption on Snowflake.
